Hits
A hit is a request for a file on a web server. Each html file or picture file that is displayed when you look at a website would count as separate hits, so by viewing a single page, you may actually generate multiple hits. That is why hit counters are not very accurate at showing the popularity of a website, because pages with lots of pictures, will generate multiple hits per visit. |

HTML
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. HTML is a markup language designed for the creation of web pages and other information viewable in a browser. Every page that you see on the internet is made up of HTML. HTML, as with many computer languages, is written in code. Using HTML editors, such as Frontpage and Dreamweaver, web designers can create complex websites, even if they are unfamiliar with HTML coding. |

HTTP
HTTP stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol. HTTP is the primary method used to convey information on the World Wide Web. |

HTTPS
HTTPS is a secure version of HTTP. It was developed to provide a secure way to authenticate and encrypt sensative information, such as credit card details, which are used on the internet. |

Hyperlink
A hyperlink, also referred to simply as a link, is a reference in a HTML document to another page, document or resource. Hyperlinks are most commonly used to create a navigation structure within a website. The hyperlink would point to another page within the website, thus allowing a visitor to move from one page to another. |
